Woodside Elementary School District

Woodside is a single-school district for K-8 graders located 30 miles south of San Francisco, in a wooded community with a cohesive, smalltown character. The district selected WRNS Studio for bond-funded modernization and new construction efforts to bring their entire campus up to code, provide the latest in pedagogical environments, and to further their distinction as a model public school and center of educational excellence.

Our scope of work included the renovation of existing classroom buildings, design of a new multipurpose gymnasium, pre-school and design lab classrooms—21st century learning environments that are flexible, technology enabled and support team-based learning and collaboration.

The school benefits from highly engaged parents and community members, a supportive local business community, and the Woodside School Foundation and its board. Key to a successful design process was bringing together multiple stakeholders with diverse opinions towards successful outcomes. To facilitate the process, WRNS Studio led design charettes involving board members, parents, staff and faculty, students and community members.
