Stephen is a thoughtful, empathetic architect with an aptitude to craft places that connect people to their communities. Drawn to cityscapes and architecture’s ability to make a profound impact, he’s committed to creating experiences that positively shape human behavior while advancing social justice.
Stephen joined WRNS Studio in June 2019 bringing nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of building types and scales, from single and multi-family housing to retail, commercial and sacred spaces. An expert in mixed-use developments, he’s focused on urban infill programs that fit within their context and add value to the surrounding environment. Flexible in his approach, he navigates client needs with a realistic understanding of project delivery, coming up with innovative solutions that serve the greater public. His dedication to sustainable practices has resulted in numerous LEED-certified projects, and through his in-depth knowledge with all phases of design, he’s able to lead teams through the complexities of planning, permitting and construction, ensuring design intent is met.
Stephen is a licensed architect in California. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture after studying industrial design at California State University, Northridge. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, San Francisco Planning + Urban Research (SPUR), and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, fly fishing, and hiking the nearby scenic trails.
