For Prairna, design is a ‘way of life’ – not only that which we are currently living but also that which we aspire to live. An advocate of ‘sensitive design,’ she believes a design that is sensitive to its environment and users will inherently be successful for the long term. For her, a great designer is not someone who creates spaces, but someone who crafts experiences and she incorporates this philosophy in all her work. With experience learning and working in both India and the United States, Prairna has contributed her talents to a variety of project types, including residential, hospitality, higher education, urban mixed use and high-rise design. The process of design thinking and strategy excite her as much as the final product itself.
A double masters and a summa cum laude degree holder from two very reputed universities; Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and California College of the Arts, San Francisco; Prairna is also extremely fascinated and inspired by the combination of art and engineering that makes architecture. An avid design leader and enthusiastic team player, she is actively involved with several AIA committees including Equity By Design and is currently serving as the 2016 Academic Chair for BAYA (Bay Area Young Architects). Her passion for design and its value addition to society have always pushed her to go beyond the ordinary.
