James Quick

Intermediate Designer

Fascinated by the multifaceted, generalist approach demanded by the field of architecture, James emphasizes the user experience as a key driver for achieving success in his work. As an intermediate designer, he provides a framework within simple architectural expression to encourage users to attach, embed, and occupy space with their program specific needs. He strives for and admires the skills required of an architect to shepherd a project through construction just as much as great design acuity.

James earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University. A major academic focus was the use of parametric design tools to create dynamic architectural systems capable of adapting to changing conditions and contexts, while simultaneously embedding them with hyper specific performativity. Prior to joining WRNS Studio, James worked on multi-family residential projects in Chicago, tech office interiors for tech companies, and small institutional and civic projects. Outside of work, he likes to try new beers at local breweries, grill new recipes, and riding his bicycle to the Rockaways.
