Issy is a perceptive and conscientious designer dedicated to creating spaces that are in direct dialogue with their surroundings and broader community. She believes that the practice of architecture involves a rhythm of listening, learning and experiencing, and to achieve design intent, we need to abandon preconceived ideas of what a project should be in order to uncover place-specific, culturally-rich solutions.
A perpetual learner, Issy joined WRNS Studio in 2019 upon completion of her Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture. She began her master’s program at Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) on a merit scholarship, and prior, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Studies from Boston University. Throughout her schooling, she held numerous internships in major metropolises including Los Angeles, Shanghai and New York, and studied abroad in Tokyo and Rome. Issy is excited to expand her understanding of the built environment and learn how policy, economics, and social and environmental forces shape how we live.
In her work, Issy strives to balance theory and practice while layering in historical context to give a project soul. In her free time, she continually fuels her curiosity by practicing yoga, drawing and painting, reading philosophical discourse, and exploring the tastes and sounds of the city.
